The other day, when I got to the office, one the many emails in my inbox was from my CEO in response to a question posted on our internal survey tool, where people can raise issues to upper management in total anonymity about what is going on at work. The question he was responding to was from an employee that was looking at whether we measure our employee’s happiness. My CEO is generally very articulate, and this response was no exception. He basically shared that while it is not the company’s responsibility to ensure happiness, we would definitely want to be fostering a culture where people can find happiness at work.
As the office manager, I try really hard to help people feel happy at work. We become trained in ergonomics, so we can help people optimize the comfort of their workstations, we have employee breakfasts, we have mixers, seriously we try!
