Happy Festivus! For the rest of us!
Regardless of what holiday you celebrate this time of year, chances are you’ll be celebrating something. Since so many traditional celebrations revolve around meat main courses, I thought I’d give you some plant based ideas for some festive Festivus dishes. These are basic ideas that can be easily adapted to suit your family’s tastes.
One of the perks of working for the YMCA is that they offer lots of (often free) opportunities for professional development, so I recently took advantage of that by attending a workshop on assisting and adjusting.
One of my favourite times to give some hands on assistance is in Child’s Pose. It’s also one of my favourite poses.
If you have problems with your knees, or hips, you may find child’s pose uncomfortable. You may need to roll a blanket and place it at your heels if you find it hard to sit back. And if you are pregnant, you might need to take your hips really wide to give yourself some much needed space, or avoid the pose altogether. But for the rest of us, child’s pose feels really good, especially as a break in a more vigorous practice.
